Named after Barber's famous home in Mount Kisco, Capricorn, the French Samuel Barber Society, was established in February 2009 in Paris by Pierre Brévignon, with five honorary members : composers John Corigliano and Nicolas Bacri, musicologist Henry-Louis de la Grange, radio producer Anne-Charlotte Rémond and conductor Jean-Pierre Marty. Its aims are :

• Offering all kinds of a resources entirely dedicated to the life and works of Samuel Barber, through its official website www.samuelbarber.fr;
• Promoting Samuel Barber’s works in France via a number of events (concerts, festivals, CDs, books, etc);
• Initiating and/or relaying events organized on both sides of the Atlantic in 2010 for Barber’s centennial in 2010.
